Kai Öistämö, Executive Vice President at Nokia, was yesterday at the Microsoft TechNet 2011 event in Helsinki. "Nokia has to learn to work in a new way with the surrounding world and be less self-sufficient," he said during the keynote speech. "Customers vote with their wallets and we need to be humble before them."
About the Nokia Microsoft partnership Öistämö said that "Speed has been the first thing we had to learn at Nokia." Nokia's first Windows Phones, Lumia 800 and Lumia 710, are already shipping after only about six months of this partnership. Öistämö is very pleased with the initial feedback of the Lumia smartphones.
While currently the Windows Phone ecosystem is lacking behind iOS and Adroid, Öistämö encouraged developers to start developing to the Windows Phone platform, because according to him it "will be in the end the victorious ecosystem".
